ATSEA Participation in IWC 6
The sixth biennial portfolio conference has the objective of facilitating experience sharing across the GEF International Waters portfolio with a special emphasis on transboundary waters management results of the GEF International Waters Portfolio after twenty years.
This year, the Conference will be organized under the slogan Raising the Bar: 20 Years of GEF Transboundary Water Results. The conference theme will be a consideration of GEF Transboundary Water Results in key areas such as institutional & sectoral transformation, private sector partnerships and ecosystem-based approaches.
The Sixth GEF Biennial International Waters Conference, as with prior IW Conferences, will be an active training and experience-sharing event during which the participants will not only sum up the results achieved but also will look into the future of programming within and beyond the focal area. The Conference will feature training sessions on key management and technical areas, such as the preparation of transboundary diagnostic analyses and strategic action programmes, project management, governance & institutional frameworks, a first time corporate and social responsibility roundtable with private sector companies, as well as a first-time Transboundary Commission roundtable. Finally, there will be participant-driven training workshops.
The Conference will also feature technical site visits to five GEF IW projects located in and around the vicinity of Dubrovnik on the 18th October. This year’s Conference coincides with the 20th Anniversary of the GEF. To celebrate this, the Conference will feature a 20th Anniversary Reception to be held in the old-center of Dubrovnik on the 19th of October.
