Other Project Patners

Several other countries (in the Dinaric region and beyond) scientific institutions, international and Non-Governmental Organizations have also joined this challenging project.
Collaborative Environment
DIKTAS Project Team has an internal interactive environment provided by IGRAC
Centre of Hydrogeology of the University of Malaga - CEHIUMA
The Centre of Hydrogeology was set up by the University of Málaga in response to the growing demand for water and to the problems encountered in this respect, in both its quality and its quantity, especially among Mediterranean countries.
Karst Research Institute Postojna
This is the link of the Karst Research Institute in Postojna, Slovenia, that is one of the most traditional institutes working on karst, located in a classical karst region. The Institute is also editing the Acta Carsologica journal for more than 60 years! (see at http://carsologica.zrc-sazu.si/)
The International Association of Hydrologists Commission on Karst Hydrogeology
The Karst Commission is a network of academics, practicing hydrogeologists, and water resources professionals. Their goal is to promote a defensible scientific basis and professional practice for the sustainable management of karst water resources for multiple uses, including safe drinking water, agriculture and protection of ecosystems.
GWP- Mediterranean
Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP MED), is a regional not-for-profit action network, a multi-stakeholder platform that brings together competent organisations advocating, facilitating and supporting change processes for the sustainable management of water resources in the Mediterranean Region, including Southeastern Europe. GWP MED is one the 13 regional water partnerships of the Global Water Partnership (GWP) intergovernmental organisation and it was established in 2002.
International Groundwater Resources Assessment Centre (IGRAC)
IGRAC facilitates and promotes world-wide exchange of groundwater knowledge to improve assessment, development and management of groundwater resources. The idea of an International Groundwater Resources Assessment Centre (IGRAC) - an initiative of UNESCO and WMO - was first launched at the "Fifth International Conference on Hydrology" in February 1999. In the years after, thorough discussions and consultations took place in order to define the scope, role and objectives of IGRAC. By early 2003, IGRAC has operationalised its activities, aiming at benefiting the entire international groundwater community with services on a free-of-charge basis. IGRAC operates under the auspices of WMO and UNESCO (as UNESCO Institute - Category II). Like our in-house partner the UNESCO-IHE, the Centre is based in Delft, The Netherlands.
Waterpool – Kompetenznetzwerk Wasserressourcen GmbH
“Waterpool – Kompetenznetzwerk Wasserressourcen GmbH” was established in December 2003 as a subsidiary of “Joanneum Research Forschungsgesellschaft mbH,” and very rapidly grew to become central Europe’s largest competence centre. Currently, over 80 commercial and research partners are part of the network. Know-how is provided by partners from the Austrian provinces of Styria, Carinthia, Tyrol, as well as further afield, from such countries as Slovenia, Italy and Croatia, all of whom enjoy the benefits of this close cooperation. The Waterpool network is made up of six central network hubs, with 45 sub-projects.
Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering

Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment, University of Athens
The teaching of geosciences at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, has covered a long course in the depth of time in order to reach its current level, the beginnings of which will be found in the first phase of the operation of the University, since the constitution of operation of the University in 1839. In the decree of May 19th, the course of Mineralogy and Geology are fixed as obligatory courses. The Faculty of Geology includes the following Departments: a. Department of Mineralogy and Petrology b. Department of Historical Geology and Palaeontology c. Department of Geography and Climatology d. Department of Geophysics and Geothermics e. Department of Economic Geology and Geochemistry f. Department of Dynamic, Tectonic and Applied Geology
UNESCO Chair and Network / International Network of Water-Environment Centres for the Balkans (INWEB)
The UNESCO Chair/International Network of Water-Environment Centres for the Balkans (INWEB) on “sustainable management of water and conflict resolution” was established in July 2003 at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), Department of Civil Engineering, Division of Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering, Hydraulics Laboratory. The UNESCO Chair/INWEB is a network of academic and non-academic institutions and cooperates closely with UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme (UNESCO IHP) (Paris) and UNESCO’s Regional Office for Science in Europe (UNESCO BRESCE) (Venice), as well as other major international organisations such as the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
International Research Center on Karst (IRCK)
The International Research Center on Karst (IRCK) was set up on December 15, 2008 according to the Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Concerning the Establishment and Operation of the International Research Center on Karst in Guilin, China, under the Auspices of UNESCO. IRCK contributes to reach a better understanding of karst dynamic system on a global scale, to keep karst fragile environment ecologically sound, and to promote sustainable development of society and economy in karst regions.
The Edwards Aquifer Authority
The Edwards Aquifer Authority is responsible for a jurisdictional area that spans 8,800 square miles across eight counties in south-central Texas, including all of Uvalde, Medina, and Bexar counties, plus portions of Atascosa, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Comal, and Hays counties, as a conservation and reclamation district. The authority is a governmental agency and a body politic and corporate.
BRGM
The BRGM is France's leading public institution in Earth science applications for the management of surface and subsurface resources and risks. The BRGM plays 4 key roles: scientific research, support to public policy development, international cooperation and mine safety. The BRGM is the french geological survey.
TDA

TDA is an assessment and prioritisation of transboundary water related issues of concern . It uses the best available verified scientific and technical information to examine the state of the environment and the root causes for its degradation. The analysis is carried out in a cross sectoral manner, focusing on transboundary problems without ignoring national concerns and priorities.
